Sea of happy heads: Eventful Happy Streets edition draws to close

Nagpur: Happy Streets wrapped up yet another eventful edition on Sunday as dance, zumba, music and other entertaining activities took centrestage between Law College Square and Laxmi Bhuvan Square.

Citizens let loose to a playlist of hit Bollywood numbers and participated in tug of war, football and live singing, among other activities. Sad about this being the last Happy Streets Sunday for the season, visitors expressed their desire for a quick comeback of the project. Happy Streets is an initiative organized by The Times of India, in collaboration with Maharashtra Times.

Teacher Malvika Saraf said, “It's kind of a mixed feeling as this is the last Sunday of Happy Streets. My energy has been revitalized after years because of this fantastic event.”

Engineering student Harshal Dawande said he really enjoys the arrangements at Happy Streets. He added, “Everything was mesmerizing, including the dance, games like tug of war, badminton and what not. I wish this could’ve been conducted every Sunday for the whole year.”

Senior citizen Shobha Deole described the entire experience as a magnificent one. “I really enjoyed the games and the zumba sessions. Altogether, it was just perfect. I still can't believe that this was the last Sunday of Happy Streets,” she said.

NSS volunteer Sharvari Dhote said, “Sunday mornings in Dharampeth meant Happy Streets for us. We looked forward to visiting every Sunday because this is the only chance to meet old friends and make new ones. Thanks to TOI for organizing this wonderful event.”

The event was brought to a close in the presence of former standing committee chairman and former corporator in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Virendra Kukreja, Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) president and RC Plasto Tanks & Pipes Pvt Ltd director Vishal Agrawal, additional commissioner of police Navinchandra Reddy, deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Sarang Awad, NMC deputy commissioner Nirbhay Jain, Dande Foundation managing trustee Dr Pinak Dande and HCG Cancer Centre radiation oncology consultant Dr Shizan Parvez.
