Nagpur: The Time-of-Day (ToD) concession delivered benefits worth 2,235 crore to nearly 70 lakh users since its rollout in July 2025, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (
MSEDCL) in a press release.
ToD concession, which offers reduced tariffs for electricity consumed between 9am and 5pm, has been instrumental in encouraging daytime usage, aligning demand with availability of low-cost renewable energy, particularly solar. The initiative applies to industrial, commercial, domestic, and public services categories.
According to MSEDCL, high-tension industrial consumers emerged as the biggest beneficiaries under the scheme. A total of 15,907 such consumers have collectively received benefits amounting to 1,534 crore. Overall, 43,911 industrial consumers, including high tension, low tension, seasonal industries and power loom units, have availed benefits of 1,774 crore.
Commercial establishments have also recorded notable gains, with 11,017 consumers across high-tension and low-tension categories receiving benefits of 239 crore by optimising their usage.
A key highlight of the initiative has been the inclusion of domestic consumers under the ToD framework for the first time.
