‘Rekha Classics’ touches heart of music lovers

Nagpur: ‘Rekha Classics’, a musical concert organized by Swarved group at Scientific Society Hall, Laxmi Nagar on Friday evening, proffered melodious tracks picturized on the versatile Bollywood actress.

The programme began with the lighting of a traditional lamp by ACP (traffic) Ashok Bagul, poetess Ujwala Andhare and Madhurika Gadkari.

The string of melodies commenced with Bagul presenting ‘Yamla pagla deewana’, surprising the audience with his singing talent. Seema Sonule rendered the soulful composition ‘Sancha tera naam’ from ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’.

This was followed by Sharmila Charalwar’s recital of ‘Aaj kal paon zameen par’ that delighted the capacity crowd. ‘Dil cheez kya hai’ by Pratiksha Patalwar followed. The duet performance of ‘Pardesiya yeh sach hai piya’ by singers Ashwini Lule and Amol Kulkarni was well received by the audience.

Singers displayed the versatility of their voices with popular songs like ‘Neela aasman so gaya’, ‘Phir wahi raat’, ‘Salam-e-ishq meri jaan’, ‘Tere bina jiya jaaye’, ‘Ghum hain kisi ke’, ‘Saanjh dhale gagan tale’, ‘Hame aur jeene ki’ and 10 other songs.

Rachna Mahajan concluded the event with ‘Piya baawri piya baawri’. The other singers were Padmaja Sinha, Poorva Salpekar, Dipali Sapre, Falguni Kurhekar, Pallavi Damle, Dhiraj Aate, Rakesh Sharma and Sanjay Uttarwar.

The accompanying artistes were Pawan Manwatkar (synthesizer), Ravi Satfale (tabla), Prakash Chavan (guitar), Vinit Kamble (dholak), Tushar Vighne (minor) and Aashish Supare (octopad).

The programme was anchored by Shweta Shelgaonkar.
