RD, Laxmi-Pyare music magic casts a spell on audience
Nagpur: RD Burman and Laxmikant Pyarelal made a lot of experiments while scoring music for films. The magic of their creations was on full display at a programme titled ‘Dosti Suron Ki’, organized by Dande Foundation at Suresh Bhat Sabhagruh, on Tuesday.
The programme, presented by Awesome Musical Group, kept the audience glued to seats as singers excelled in their performances.
The programme started with ‘Kya yehi pyar hai’, sung by Sagar Madhumatke, who specializes in Kishore Kumar’s songs. Vijay Chiwande was the next who sang ‘Gulabi aankhen’.
Isha Ranade was at her best singing ‘Aaj tal paon zameen par nahi rehte mere’, a rather slow song, difficult to sing. Duet ‘Lekar hum deewana dil’, a duet by Sagar Madhumatke and Shruti Choudhari warmed up many a heart.
‘Ek din bik jaayega mati ke mol’, made immortal by Raj Kapoor, was presented by Arvind Patil. Chiwande then came up with ‘Mehbooba’,
Racy song ‘Jaane ja dhoondta phir raha’ by Madhumatke and Shruti Choudhary was greeted with repeated applause.
Shruti’s romantic songs “Kya janu sajan’ and ‘Aao na gale laga lo na’ were a hit.
It was Prashant Khandare whose saxophone did all the talking when he presented ‘Tum aa gaye ho noor aa gaya hai’ and made the atmosphere electrifying.
Isha rendered ‘Sheesha ho ya dil ho’ while Mukul Pande came up with ‘Chahunga main tujhe saanjh savere’.
Sagar took the audience to the heydays of Rajesh Khanna with evergreen ‘Mere dil mein aaj kya hai tu kahe to main’.
Mukul’s qawwali ‘Parda hai parda’ while Isha and Akansha’s rendition of folk song ‘Choli ke pichhe kya hai’ added a dash of colour to the programme.
‘Taro me saj ke’ by Arvind and ‘Bhor bhaye pan ghatpe’ by Isha were nice. ‘Ek pyar ka nagma hai’ by Arvind and Vina Ukunde impressed.
Jyoti Bhagat shared many tid-bits about the origin of songs and singers during the course of the musical.
The programme was conceptualized by Prashant and Prakash Khandare.
The accompanying artistes were Prashant Khandare (saxophone), Prakash (brass), Mahendra Dhole and Raja Rathod (keyboard), Prakash Chauhan (guitar) and Rakesh Wankhede (base guitar).
