Raut may be next standing panel chief

Nagpur: BJP corporator Sudhir ‘Bandu’ Raut is likely to be elected as the next chairman of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) standing committee. The election for this post will be held on March 1.
Eight members of the existing committee are slated to retire on March 1. They include four from BJP-led Nagpur Vikas Aghadi (NVA): Neeta Thakre, Kishor Dorle, Vishakha Maind and Kanta Rarokar.The other four are from Congress-led Secular Democratic Front (SDF): Prerna Kapse, Saraswati Salame, Sandip Sahare and Dipak Patel.
As NVA and its ally Shiv Sena has an overwhelming majority in the standing committee there will be no problem in getting Raut elected.
