Rain-themed songs ‘drench’ audience

The event began with a medley of Marathi songs rendered by Amol Kulkarni, Pratima Pattalwar and Vijay Deshpande. They sang one stanza from ‘Garva’, a superhit song of Milind Ingle, ‘Angani mazya mor’ from the movie Lagnacha Dhumdhadaka and ‘Ashadh pavsa’, written by poetess Ujwala Andhare. She was felicitated at the event at the hands of Madhurika Gadkari.
Following this, a string of popular and romantic monsoon melodies were sung before the audience, starting with Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘O sajna barkha bahar aayee’ from Parakh, sung by Ashwini Lule. ‘Chhup gaye saare nazare’, a Mangeshkar and Rafi’s song from Do Raaste was sung by Pattalwar and Kulkarni. Padmaja Sinha and Nisarg Raj sang ‘Rimjhim ke geet saavan gaaye’. Dipali Sapre enthralled the audience with Asha Bhosle’s ‘Piya Bawri’ from Khoobsurat while Manashree Joshi sang Mangeshkar’s ‘Megha chhaaye aadhi raat’ from Sharmilee.
Purva Salpekar and Dheeraj Aate crooned to Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman starrer ‘Bheegi bheegi raaton mein’ from Ajnabee. Sharmila Taralwar and Apurva Masodkar performed on ‘Yeh mausam bheega bheega hai’ from Dharti. Manoj Joshi, Vijay Deshpande, Ravindra Sutawane, Rucha Yenurkar and Rasika Sutawane also displayed their singing skills. ‘Sam zum sam zum’, ‘Kaha se aaye badra’, ‘Bole re papihara’, ‘Tip tip barsa paani’ and ‘Naino mein badara chhaye’ were some of the other melodies from the list of nearly 25 songs. Shweta Shelgaonkar anchored the programme.
Ravi Satfale accompanied singers on tabla, Pawan Manwatkar on synthesizer, Ujjwala Gokarna on minor, Vinit Kamble on dholak, Gaurav Tanksale on guitar and Mahendra Wakudkar on octopod. Swarved and Sursaptak are noted groups which provide a platform and training to upcoming artistes to showcase their talent.
