Programme traces history of Congress
Nagpur: An audio-visual programme titled ‘Azadi Se Azadi Ki Aur’ staged at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on Thursday traced the history of the Congress party and conveyed to the masses the message that they should not trust everything circulated on social media platforms as they could be misleading.
The programme was organized by Bahujan Vichar Manch. Film actor and Congress leader Urmila Matondkar was the chief guest.
As the event began, a woman depicting India narrated the story of the play. She said, “She trusts the Congress and the story highlights its love for the nation and sacrifices it made since its formation.”
This was followed by a scene staged by four people of different religions, discussing about the struggles launched to get freedom. They formed a group named Bharatiya Rashtriya Congress. From Jawaharlal Nehru becoming the first prime minister of India till the present times, the focus was on the history of the Congress as a political party.
The play concluded with a man dressed as Rahul Gandhi saying, “He still hopes that the young generation will understand the consequences of blindly trusting the social media and that it will take proper decisions by using their intellect and doing analysis of the prevalent situation.”
The LED screen displayed various events of the past which supported many scenes that were staged. Popular slogans like ‘Jai jawan jai kisan’ were highlighted.
A woman who depicted India was the narrator of the events which were sequenced one after the other.
Matondkar delivered a speech at the end of the programme.
The play was written and directed by Salim Sheikh.
LED screen and the audio effects added to the amazement of the audience.
Narendra Jichkar, who conceptualized the programme, said, “The young generation easily believes everything that is available on social media. But this is fraught with dangers as it fails to understand what the truth is.”
