Pragati Mandal and Hindi Mahila Samiti create awareness about ill effects of nylon manja

Nagpur: To highlight the harmful effects of nylon manja and spread the festive spirit of Makar Sankranti, members of Pragati Mahila Mandal and Hindi Mahila Samiti organised a creative awareness event on Saturday at Modern Society, Pratap Nagar. The centerpiece of the event was an impressive 15x15 ft kite bearing the message: ‘Save Life, Save Birds, No Nylon Manja'.This giant kite, crafted with dedication over several days, aimed to educate the public about the environmental and safety hazards posed by nylon manja. Social activist Rekha Chaturvedi was the chief guest. The initiative was spearheaded by environmentalists Gunjan Khandelwal and Dr Sunita Sharma, with active contributions from Dr Chitra Tur, Rekha Pandey, Mona Dhoke, Rani Chatterjee, Manju Gupta, and Manda Thakre.Other key members, including Jaymala Tiwari, Rashmi Mishra, Sushma Sharma, Vidhi Gwalani, Mamta Vishwakarma, Gaikwad, Hingve, Nagpure, Durvang Dhoke, Mansi Nagpure and Kiran Hatwar, along with several enthusiastic children, participated in the event. The kite, now on public display, serves as a visual reminder for passers-by to adopt eco-friendly practices during the festival and protect lives of humans and birds.
