NAGPUR: After a poor show in the last decade, the engineering diploma admissions have been getting good response since the last four years, according to the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). Sharing statistics, it informed that in 2018-19, about 41% seats were filled up, but in the 2022-23 session, the number rose to 85%.

In view of encouraging response, the DTE has decided to complete the admissions for 2023-24 session through a dedicated portal.

The admission process on the portal started from Thursday. For the last four years, the polytechnic courses are receiving an encouraging response from the students and their numbers are increasing every year.

Technical education director Vinod Mohitkar said, “Various activities like counseling, meetings, awareness campaigns, advertisements, and radio interviews were conducted in the schools.”

Joint director of technical education in Nagpur, Manoj Daigavane said various initiatives were being implemented by the DTE to impart employment oriented technical education.

Meanwhile, the DTE has added 2,460 seats across the state for specialized courses like artificial intelligence and machine learning, mechatronics, automation and robotics, cloud computing, computer engineering and internet of things.
