Police arrest five, seize sharp weapons
Nagpur: The special squad of city police arrested five of a family before seizing sharp weapons from a spot near Automative Chowk on Monday. The five had gathered at the place to settle a score with a rival with whom they had a tiff earlier in the day.
The arrested accused are Abdul Shafique, his elder brother Abdul Rafique, Mohd Irfan, Shaikh Nazir Bashir and Mohd Shakeel. Irfan is learnt to be Shafique and Rafique’s brother-in-law, while Shakeel is a cousin.
Police said Shafique and Rafique’s family owns a business of spare parts and scraps near Automative Chowk. Their father Abdul Hafeez has a rivalry with another trader in the vicinity, Noor Khan, for some time. Earlier in the day, Hafeez and Khan had a wordy duel vowing to teach each other a lesson.
It’s learnt that Hafeez’s sons and others gathered near their business place where they also summoned Khan. In the meantime, police were tipped off regarding the family members.
A team of special squad led by sub-inspectors Madhav Shinde and Vinod Dhondage, constables Rajkumar Janbandhu, Pankaj Lande, Suraj Bharti, Dinesh Yadav and others zeroed down on Hafeez’s family members and recovered sharp weapons from them.
Police have also seized the car and mobile phones from the accused.
