Pensioner duped of Rs5 lakh in cyber fraud
Nagpur: A 70-year-old pensioner from Yashodeep Colony in Mahendra Nagar, within Pachpaoli police station, lost Rs5 lakh to an online cheating scam. On February 18, between 11 am and 12 pm, Narendra Bawangade received a call from an unknown number. The caller, posing as an SBI official, claimed there were issues with Bawangade's pension card.The caller sent a WhatsApp link, instructing Bawangade to fill out a form. Later, Rs5 lakh was siphoned off from his bank account. Pachpaoli Police registered a case under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (cheating), along with Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the IT Act.
