Patole targets BJP to set tone for rally

Nagpur: The Congress will bring down the “dictatorial” Bharatiya Janata Party in the same fashion as it drove away the British from India, said Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Nana Patole on Wednesday ahead of the party’s mega rally. “People of this country would come forward to save democracy and the Constitution,” he said. Patole, while addressing the media, said that Congress leadership would focus on inflation, unemployment and farmers issues by propagating its slogan ‘Hai Tayyar Hum’ among the countrymen. “All the preparations for the grand rally have been completed. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi would address the gathering at Bharat Jodo Maidan at Dighori on Umred Road. The big stage set up for the rally can accommodate nearly 1,000 people,” he said. Addressing Congress volunteers at Pandav College on Umred Road, which has become a makeshift office of the party, Patole said it’s like a wedding ceremony and we are the host for guests from all over the country.Giving details about the schedule, MLC Abhijit Wanjarri said top party leaders would unfurl the INC flag at Congress headquarters at 9am in Delhi, before taking a private plane to reach Nagpur by around 12.30pm. They would reach the venue after 2pm. He said 250 top Congress leaders would be present at rally which would see lakhs of people.

He accused the BJP of strangulating democracy and converting Parliament into a platform for the ruling party.
