Chandrapur: BJP's narrow 32–31 victory in the Chandrapur mayoral election turned on 3 decisive factors — 2 Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) corporators staying absent and an AIMIM abstention — that reduced Congress's effective strength and tilted a closely fought contest. The outcome underscored how fragile alliances and last-minute political choices reshaped the final numbers on polling day.The 66-member corporation entered the vote sharply divided. Congress, the single largest party with 27 corporators, depended on allies including Shetkari Kamgar Paksha, AIMIM and BSP, but remained short of a clear majority amid internal factional splits.
