No power tussle, Gupta is chief, says Magan Sangrahalaya

Nagpur: The Magan Sangrahlaya Samiti (MSS) has denied any ‘power tussle’ or ‘tug of war’ in the organisation. In a release, MSS said it recently held its general body meeting and unanimously re-elected Dr Vibha Gupta as chairperson, and the rest of the committee. It said Saturday’s meeting of leaders and workers was regarding the danger of outside elements gaining control of Gandhian institutions.

MSS has said that Ramji Shukla, who is a non-entity and mischief-maker, only claims to have formed a committee, which is frivolous, unconstitutional and unlawful.

MSS said the various stakeholders of MSS were present at a meeting at

Wardha

on Saturday, including MSS chairperson Dr Vibha Gupta, TN Prabhu of Sewagram Ashram Pratisthan, Karuna Futane of Gram Sewa Mandal, Malti Deshmukh of Maharogi Sewa Samiti, Sushma Sharma of Nai Talimi Sangh, Prashant Nagose of Rashtriya Yuva Sangathan, and many other Gandhian representatives and karyakartas. This meeting highlighted the danger of anti-social elements trying to grab Gandhian institutions.

The meeting underlined the significance of internationally renowned Gandhiji’s Sewagram Ashram in Wardha as a historical monument, which attracts nearly seven lakh people annually and showcases Bapu’s ‘economy of permanence’ through various organizations in Wardha working in the area of

khadi

, village industries, basic education, health, sanitation, water, environment, technology, women entrepreneurship, organic farming, animal husbandry etc. For this, Wardha is famous as ‘

Gandhi

District’. The 80-year-old Magan Sangrahlaya, set up by Gandhiji, is a pioneer in establishing Organic Khadi, with 1,200 women self-help groups providing livelihood to 3,000 artisans, rural women and organic farmers.

MSS also said Karuna Futane “was standing peacefully outside MSS premises when Ramji Shukla abused her and hit her on the face, which left her bleeding in the mouth, and an FIR has been registered by Sewagram Police against this”.
