NMC to fete 10 stalwarts in their fields

NAGPUR: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has shortlisted the names of 10 persons who will be felicitated for their commendable job in their respective fields. All belong to the city and stalwarts in their fields.
Chairman of standing committee Sandip Joshi has started the felicitation ceremony from his first tenure. This will be the second consecutive year.As per the selection list announced by Joshi on Saturday, city shuttler Arundhati Pantawane, who is playing at international-level will be honoured with Sachin Tendulkar Krida Ratna Puraskar with cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, followed by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Samajik Samarasta Puraskar- Sadanand Mahathero, Dr Hedgewar Smruti Seva Puraskar- Dr Vilas Dangre, Vidya Vachaspathi Ram Shewalkar Sahitya Puraskar- Grace (Manik Godghate), Madkholkar Smruti Vidarbha Gaurav Puraskar- Meghnad Bodhankar, Patanjali Yog Puraskar- Dr Vitthalrao Jibhkate, Purushottam Darvhekar Smruti Sanskrutik Vidarbha Gaurav Puraskar- Dr Girish Oak, Rajshri Chhatrapati Shahu Smruti Samvedna Puraskar- Dr Shashikant Ramteke- Vijaya Parivar, Mayor Krida Ratna Puraskar- Sunil Hande, Sheshrao Wankhede Vidarbha Ratna Puraskar- Swapnil Dhopade. All will be given cash prize of Rs 51,000.
NMC will felicitate them by presenting the awards at a programme at Sai Hall, Shankar Nagar at 5 pm on Tuesday. BJP national president Nitin Gadkari will be the chief guest. Mayor Archana Dehankar will preside over the function, while EGS minister Nitin Raut, Atal Bahadur Singh and Girish Gandhi will be the other prominent dignitaries.
At a press conference on Saturday, Joshi said, "It's a matter of pride for the city to have such great persons. NMC feels proud to get the opportunity to felicitate stalwarts like Grace, Bodhankar, Dr Dangre and others".
