NAGPUR: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Lokmanch have almost finalized their candidates for NMC elections, but the list will be announced at the last moment to minimize rebellion. The interviews of
NCP ticket aspirants were held last week.
While office-bearers maintained that the list was yet to be finalized, sources said that over 25 candidates out of 29 seats given to the party had been finalized.
However, last minute changes could not be ruled out, they added. Lokmanch has also finalized most of its candidates.
NCP sources said that the tentative list of party candidates included: Nara – Kamla Arya, Zingabai Takli – Pushpa or Raghunath Malikar, Gorewada – Nitish Gwalbanshi, Dabha – Harish Gwalbanshi, Civil Lines – Pragati Patil, Mominpura – Kamil Ansari, Shanti Nagar – Deorao Tijare, Naik Talao – Annaji Raut, Ayodhya Nagar – Ashok Katle, Hansapuri – Anil Motghare, Maharajbagh – Sunil Hiranwar, Hiwri Nagar – Pappu Patel, Nehru Nagar – Chhaya Balbudhe, Jaripatka – Bhaganbai Meshram, Lashkaribagh – Varsha Shamkule, Kalamna – Mrs Phule, Ravi Nagar – Mrs Shukla, Mahal – Raman Thaokar, Maskasath – Mrs Larokar, Hilltop – Prakash Gajbhiye, Sai Mandir – Sunil Raut, Ajni – Dilip Pankule, Raghuji Nagar – Raju Nagulwar, Dipti Signal – Bhagwati Shahu, Bharat Nagar – Radheshyam Verma and Vishwakarma Nagar – Pratibha Patil.
NCP is yet to shortlist candidates for the rest of three wards.
The tentative list of Lokmanch candidates is:
Dipak Patel (Gandhisagar), Dimpi Bawa (Mecosabagh), Bandu Parwe (Nari), Siraj Bhai, Mrs Ninawe (Jagnath Budhwari), Hamid Ansari (Garib Nawaz Nagar), Raju Thool and Lonare.
City NCP chief Ajay Patil, however, said that the wards in NCP’s quota had not been finalized so was no question of finalizing the candidates.
