No Monday blues for seeds, Nagpur’s Kevika remains lone paddler to reach U-15 girls rd 3

Nagpur: Almost all the seeded paddlers in the U-13 and U-15 categories made an easy progress to the next round in the second Maharashtra state ranking table tennis tournament at the Subhedar hall on Monday.While Nagpur paddlers continued to disappoint, Kevika Nandeshwar became the lone city player to enter the third round of the U-15 girls’ singles category. In an all Nagpur second-round clash Kevika defeated Saachi Mate 9-11, 11-7, 11-7, 13-11. The top two seeds in the U-15 girls’ section Divyanshi Bhowmick of Mumbai and Thane’s Riana Bhoota won their respective matches in straight games.In the U-13 girl’s third round, Nagpur’s lone seeded paddler Purvi Kaur Renu went down fighting against Pune’s Neeraja Deshmukh. The 10th seeded Purvi lost 6-11, 11-9, 8-11, 10-12. All the other Nagpur paddlers including Kevika, Tanisha Kolare and Sejal Wankhede crashed out from the competition after losing their respective third round contests.The top two seeds in the U-13 boys section, Param Bhiwandkart of Mumbai and Thane’s Kaivayla Sontakke eased into the third round.
