Nagpur’s dhol-tasha group steals show,Maha tableau is best at R-Day parade
Nagpur: Maharashtra's tableau won first prize at this year's Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path, with Nagpur's Gajavakra troupe's splendid traditional dhol-tasha performance alongside the tableau highlighting the significance of Ganesh festival. The Nagpur artists made the most of the moment, drawing audience into the powerful rhythmic beats of dhol-tasha.
Dignitaries from India and abroad witnessed a vibrant glimpse of Marathi culture as 35-member Gajavakra artists delivered a high-impact presentation in the national capital. This marked the first dhol-tasha performance on Kartavya Path, with many expressing that Nagpur earned special national recognition through the showcase of Maharashtra's cultural heritage.
Troupe head Pratik Chambole said, "Our 35-member troupe stayed in Delhi for 20 days and practiced rigorously. We are happy that it resulted in an excellent presentation. We received special guidance from shehnai player Lokesh Anand for this performance. His guidance boosted the artists' confidence. For the success of this performance, we received guidance and cooperation from South Central Zone Cultural Centre director Astha Karlekar and Nilesh Kanhede."
The group included Rajat Yelane, Ruchit Aparajit, Omkar Dev, Akash Kumbhare, Ameya Puranik, Durvesh Ufat, Amit Bhede, Naitik Surushe, Siddhesh Nemad, Harsh Date, Vedant Surushe, Sarthak Thamke, Arnav Mudaliyar, Naman Motariya, Pranay Borikar, Swapnil Garjalwar, Parth Bisen, Palash Shende, Omkar Puranik, Gajanan Belge, Sammit Menjoge, Atharv Bihade, Giridhar Kadu, Parth Dhabekar, Ansh Barde, Krish Vinchurkar, Parth Amritkar, Rudraksh Deshmukh, Shantanu Sawant, Kartik Bhagat, Krishna Sathwane, Vineet Dekate, Tejas Kathoke, Omkar Dangore and Soham Randai.
