Peaceful Polls, Improved Turnout In Nagpur West

Nagpur West assembly constituency witnessed a largely peaceful voting day, marked by a steady rise in voter turnout. Starting with 7.5% turnout between 7am and 9am—higher than most city constituencies—voting momentum picked up as the day progressed. The afternoon saw highest surge, with 41% turnout recorded by 3pm. By the close of polling at 5pm, turnout stood at 52%, surpassing 49.41% recorded in 2019. Final figures are expected to touch 60%.
The voting process was smooth overall, with no major conflicts or issues reported with electronic voting machines (EVMs). Most polling booths were well-prepared, though some lacked facilities like ramps for disabled voters.
Prominent candidates—Congress MLA Vikas Thakre, BJP's Sudhakar Kohale, and Independent candidate Narendra Jichkar—actively campaigned near polling booths, interacting with voters throughout the day.
Voter turnout reflected diverse participation patterns. Affluent areas saw higher turnout in the morning hours, while residents from slums and underdeveloped localities turned up in greater numbers in the evening.
