Nagpur to host 63rd state-level Hindi theatre festival from today
Nagpur: The city is set to host the 63rd Maharashtra State-Level Hindi Theatre Festival at Vanamati Hall, Dharampeth, from Monday. Organised by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Govt of Maharashtra, the competition will feature 17 plays over multiple sessions, providing a platform for theatre enthusiasts and artists. The event, which will run from February 10 to 21, will have morning sessions at 11.30am and evening sessions at 7pm, with free entry for all theatre lovers. Plays from Amravati, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Nanded, and many other districts will be performed in Nagpur.The festival will begin with the play ‘Firtilizer', written by Nitin Shegaokar and directed by Sapan Raut, at 7pm on Monday. On Tuesday morning, ‘The Father', written by Florian Zeller and directed by Saurabh Kamble, will be staged. ‘Thiyya', directed by Roshan Nandwanshi, will be staged at 1130am on Wednesday. The formal inaugural function is scheduled for 6.30pm on Monday.The festival aims to celebrate the richness of Hindi theatre while providing a platform for both emerging and experienced artists. Organised under the guidance of Maharashtra's cultural department officials, the event is expected to attract theatre lovers from across the region. With an impressive lineup of thought-provoking plays, the festival promises to be a cultural treat for the people of Nagpur.Maharashtra has a unique tradition of promoting theatre through state-sponsored competitions, encouraging amateur theatre groups to showcase their talent.
