City celebrates World Disability Day with inspirational rally

Nagpur: A vibrant rally to mark World Disability Day was held in the city on Tuesday, with enthusiastic participation from school students and Divyang individuals. The rally, aimed at promoting awareness and inclusion, began at Samvidhan Chowk and saw a large turnout.
The event was flagged off by Zilla Parishad President Mukta Kokadde, who commended the spirit and determination of the participants. As the rally commenced, flower petals were showered on Divyang individuals, symbolising respect and celebration of their resilience.
Participants carried placards displaying powerful messages advocating for equal opportunities and accessibility for people with disabilities. The rally underscored the importance of collective efforts to create a society that values inclusivity and empowerment for all.
The event concluded with calls for greater awareness about the rights and contributions of Divyang individuals, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of those present.
World Disability Day, observed annually on December 3, aims to promote understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of people with disabilities. The day also highlights the importance of creating inclusive communities by removing physical, social, and attitudinal barriers.
Initiated by the United Nations in 1992, this observance seeks to foster awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities while celebrating their achievements and contributions to society. With the theme changing every year, the day serves as a platform to advocate for policies and practices that ensure accessibility and equal opportunities for all.
