Nagpur Audi crash: Cops record Sanket’s statement 12 hours after pile-up; docs say duo was drunk
NAGPUR: The AudiQ8 belonging to state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule's son, Sanket, was intercepted on Sadar-Mankapur flyover, 6km from the first accident site, after some drivers chased it. Haore and Chintamwar, a businessman, who were in the vehicle, were mobbed, thrashed and whisked away to Timki near Mominpura. Sanket had slipped away earlier.
After Haore and Chintamwar were rescued from the mob, they were handed over to the Sitabuldi police, who recorded Sanket's statement on Monday evening, well over 12 hours after the pile-up.
Haore had shared his live location on Monday to his wife, who alerted her father-in-law about the accident and subsequent assault and kidnapping. Haore's father reached Timki to find his son and Chintamwar had been thrashed and were being held captive. He alerted the control room and a police team was dispatched to the spot. Cops rescued the duo and rushed them to Mayo Hospital, where doctors confirmed both were under the influence of alcohol. "We are waiting for the final confirmation from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, where the duo's blood samples were sent," said Madne.
"We are also analysing CCTV footage of the bar and restaurant at Dharampeth, Ramdaspeth and other places, for more evidence," he said.
He said police have also summoned those who intercepted the duo and took them to Timki. Police are yet to act against the abductors even though the offences of assault and kidnap attract non-bailable sections of BNS. Top cop Ravinder Singal said they would keep a vigil on the group but may not register an offence as collection and collation of evidence would be difficult. Experts said the state should suo motu register an offence against the abductors since they took the law into their hands.

Indian crowd should never abduct, they should lynch as soon as possible. Now see already they r shifting focus from actual drunk driving killers to abductors... time already provided to sanket so as not to fail alcohol test...all of them will be set free with due respect by our corrupt courts and police dancing at the behest of politicians.Read allPost comment
