NAGPUR: Keraleeya Samajam gave Malayalis living in Nagpur a musical extravaganza beyond imagination as part of the 60th Kerala Piravi celebrations at Sai Sabhagruh, Shankar Nagar. A renowned orchestra group from Kerala gave musical support to local singers
Mohan Kumar and party. It was a musical feast to the city-based Keralites as the artistes rendered some of the most famous Malayalam melodies of yesteryears.
The songs were selected by Mohan Kumar and the programme started with the beautiful song ‘Kera nirakaladum’, which describes the beauty of Kerala.
Parvati Nair gave a soulful rendition of ‘Inneniku pottu kuthan’, one of the classic Malayalam songs. Devika Nair mesmerized the audience with her beautiful rendition of ‘Mainakam’, another famous melody.
The audience were mesmerized with the soulful rendition of ‘O Sainaba’ by Sebi James. A beautiful classical based song’Hrudaya sadassile’ was presented by Jaiprakash. The singers also took the audience to the yesteryears with their soulful rendition of songs like ‘Onnam Ragam paadi’, ‘Aavani ponnunjal’, ‘Gopike’, ‘Kolakkuzhal’, ‘Aazhake’ etc in both solo and duet. Prakash won the appreciation with his beautiful rendition of the classical film songs ‘Sangeetame’ and ‘Katile pazhmuzham’.
The musical extravaganza was a wonderful combination of beautiful melodies, classical based songs, comedy show and ‘Naadan paatu’.
Singers Mohan Kumar, Jaiprakash, Devika Nair, Parvati Nair and Sebi James gave justice to all the songs with their melodious voice and perfection.
Earlier, the lamp was lit by chief guest Anil Sasidharan, assistant commissioner, excise, and guest of honour Dileep Kumar, chief manager, State Bank of Travancore. President Manoj PV gave a welcome speech while general secretary Anil Mathew introduced the guests. Treasurer Shri Harshan, programme convener Baburaj, executive members, ladies wing members and youth wing members worked hard for the event.
