The programme was conceptualized by Samir Pandit. Singers Sarang Joshi, Manashree Joshi, Sushma Kane, Sagar Madhumatke and Shreya Kharabe took the audience to a musical tour of beautiful songs, from devotional to old Hindi hits. The programme started with ‘Gajanana Ganraya’, sung by Shreya. Other devotional songs dedicated to God like ‘

Majhi Renuka Mauli

’ and a special song for the festival of Diwali, ‘Aali majhya ghari hi Diwali’, were worth listening.

Nandu Gohane

accompanied singers on octopod, Raja Rathod on keyboard and Prashant Nagmote on tabla. Many hit songs of Kishore Kumar like ‘Zindagi ek safar’, ‘Ek chatur naar’ and ‘Aanewala pal jaanewala hai’ drew applause. Apart from this, the new peppy song ‘Sairat zala ji’ was sung by Sarang and Sushama. The programme, attended by people from all age groups, left the audience feeling happy and pumped up for the day.

‘Laaga chunari mein daag’, sung by Manna Dey from movie ‘Dil hi to hai’ and Kishore Kumar’s evergreen song ‘Main hoon jhum jhum jhumru’ from 1961 ‘Jhumru’ left a mark during the programme. Such was the enthusiasm of connoisseurs of music lovers gathered for ‘Mangaldeep Prabhat’ that many of day were seen humming songs and clapping as singers presented one song after the other.

Our Take

I attend events like these every year because they are held rarely and mostly during Diwali. So I keep searching for musical events like these which are the best start for the day. After today’s programme, I feel energized. It filled me with positivity.
