Man murdered over insecurity, financial tiff

Nagpur: Dreaded goon Rajesh Belekar (38), who had

three murder

offences in the past, was murdered over financial tiff by Roshan Chaurasiya (26) and Sonu Sakhare (21) near

at Red Light area in Itwari in the early hours of Wednesday. Assailants slit Belekar’s throat

with sharp weapon

while he was sitting on the chair at his

illegal cycle stand

in front of red light area. Within few hours, cops have nabbed goons from the nearby locality. Lakadganj police have registered the offence of murdered against Chaurasiya and Sakhare under section 302 of IPC following the complaint of Sanjay (41), deceased brother. Cops have booked one more goon, identified as Santosh Shreewas, alias Balu (27), who too had previous murder offence in 2012 at Yashodharanagar police station, as he was aware about the murder plan.

Belekar was carrying illegal cycle stand from a decade ago as outsider vegetable vendors, after selling their vegetables in the market, they visit the red light early morning. Other customers too parked their vehicle on the road randomly which became lucrative business for him. Belekar was earning substantial amount said sources. However, his father owned pan kiosk nearby to the cycle stand they added. Sanjay is a private driver.

“Belekar had lend Rs 7,000 to Chaurasiya, having offences in past, few months back,” said senior PI SB Mane. Belekar, residing in Mokhare locality at Itwari, started demanding Chaurasiya, autorickshaw driver, to return his money he added. Chaurasiya, resident of Nandanvan, had poor financial background failed to return the amount. Irked by continuous threatening, Chaurasiya, externed for an year in 2013, decided to eliminate Belekar said PI. He was reeling under fear as Belekar, who was murder accused in 1999, 2001 and 2002 at Lakadganj police station, could eliminate him over money and would get overpower said Mane. Chaurasiya and Sakhare, autorickshaw driver, and Shreewas made murder plan at their friend's place, identified as Gajanan Ninawe, in Vaishali Nagar.

“Chaurasiya attacked Belekar with weapon, however, Sakhare, who too have past records, stabbed brick on his head as Belekar hold the weapon in his hand to resist them. Chaurasiya slit his throat when Belekar released the weapon,” said PI. Cops have seized the weapon. Shreewas, was also involved in the offence, would arrest under relevant sections. Belekar and Chaurasiya, earlier, were partners in crime said Mane.

Cops said Belekar was booked under non cognizable offence for a week ago. He too was externed for his repeated criminal activities in 2008 they added. DCP, crime, Ranjankumar Shrama and ACP Rina Janbandhu too visited the spot.
