On September 8, 2010, Pachare had invited Sukhram and his family to lunch to celebrate Pola festival at his house. After lunch, Sukhram kept both his children at Pachare's house since it was raining heavily on that day and left with wife.
Next day, when Pachare's daughter Kanchan called Sukhram over telephone and told him to take his children and oxen to the farm, he refused. After that, Pachare called him up but he had switched off his cellphone. Hence, Pachare took Sukhram's children and ox to his house. Pachare dropped children till the river of the village. When the children reached home they were shocked to see their mother Suchitra in a pool of blood and father absconding.
The children informed the villagers about the incident. Pachare's wife and some villagers rushed to the spot and informed Morshi police station. A case was registered against Sukhram for killing his wife on the basis of a complaint filed by Vasant Pachare. Sukhram was arrested two days after the incident.
After examining witnesses ASI Gajanan Mhaisane, Pachare, Dr Shital Chavan and Reena, the district and sessions judge Anju Shende convicted Sukhram to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs1,000. Lawyer Dipak Ambalkar represented the government.
