Man gets 10 years RI for raping woman

Nagpur: Additional District and Sessions Judge SH Gwalani on Thursday sentenced Roshan Meshram, 42, a resident of Kuhi, to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 28-year-old woman. The court convicted Meshram under Sections 376(2)(N), 377 and 506 of IPC. He was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs25,000 (in default, one year RI).According to the prosecution, between March 3 and 4, 2024, the accused lured the woman from Sarvashree Nagar by promising her a job at AIIMS Hospital. He took her to a forest near a lake in Matkazari, where he threatened and rape her. On the woman's complaint, Hudkeshwar Police registered a case and arrested Meshram on March 5, 2024. PSI Mahesh Pandey investigated the case and filed the charge sheet. Adv. Kalpana Pandey appeared as govt prosecutor, while Adv. Bhavana Meshram defended the accused.
