Man dies after scuffle, cops register ‘accidental death’

It is learnt Dhenge had a fight with a person identified as

Amol

alias Bhurya. Dhenge wanted some cash from Amol, who had stayed at Colonel Bagh before shifting to Pardi, to consume liquor. They fought because Amol refused to give the cash. Dhenge assaulted Amol, who had come to meet old friends, following which there was a brawl. It is learnt Dhenge collapsed after being hit and sustained head injury. He was later found dead after which cops were alerted.

Sources said the a murder case wasn’t registered as cops did not want to spoil their record during Holi. Senior PI of Ganeshpeth Sunil Gangurde said, “Dhenge had several offenses registered against him. However, his body had no injury marks. So, we registered a case of accidental death. However, if post-mortem shows any injury says that he did not die of natural causes, we will take proper action.”

In other incidents, Badal Padole, 20, and his friend were attacked with an iron rod by an unidentified person on Wednesday night at Old Bhandara Road. Padole, a resident of Yashodhara Nagar, had gone for Holi shopping along with his friend when the accused attacked him without any reason. Cops said, the accused initially snatched Padole’s hat and when he protested the two thrashed him. Padole was taken to

where he is being treated. Tehsil police have registered a case of assault.

In another incident, Mansingh Sikarwar, 45, was attacked by three persons on Thursday evening at Zenda Chowk. Sikarwar, a resident of Dharampeth, was talking with a friend when the three accused identified as Shantaram Sabnis, Amit Patil and Sonu Chaudhari approached him. The accused tried to attack Sikarwar with a knife but he dodged it. Sikarwar then tried to snatch the knife from the attacker’s hand and during the scuffle he sustained cuts on neck and hand. Sitabuldi police have registered a case of assault.
