Mahiwal is Amravati collector

AMRAVATI: "Eradication of malnutrition in Melghat will be the priority for me," said newly appointed district collector of Amravati, Rahul Ranjan Mahiwal, who took charge on Friday.
Before this appointment, Mahiwal served as chief executive officer of Aurangabad Zilla Parishad. Mahiwal is an IAS officer of the 2005 batch. He served as subdivisional officer during his first stint while in 2008-10 he worked as CEO of Sindhudurg Zilla Parishad.

After former district collector Richa Bagla went on statutory leave, additional collector Jitendra Papalkar was handling charge as district collector.
On Friday, Mahiwal took information about various schemes being implemented in the district from officials. Along with the problem of malnutrition, Mahiwal assured to solve various other problems and stressed on implementation of eco-village concept, various programmes under National Rural Health Mission and other employment oriented schemes.
Khed GP office catches fire, property damaged
Amravati: All important documents and stationery and furniture worth Rs2 lakh were damaged when Khed gram panchayat in Morshi taluka caught fire on Thursday. The exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. Short circuit could have been the reason behind the fire.
Sarpanch of Khed village Gajanan Raut filed a complaint with Morshi police station in which he stated that he learnt about the fire on Friday morning. He said, "Raju Kalaskar, who runs a hotel near the GP, noticed the fire." Villagers unitedy doused the fire. tnn
He immediately informed me." He added that, when he came to know of it, he rushed to the spot and with the help of some villagers, doused the fire.
