NAGPUR: Opposition MLAs from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) staged a protest at Vidhan Bhavan on the first day of the Maharashtra State Legislature's Winter Session.
They raised slogans like “Scrap EVMs, Save Democracy”, “Save the Constitution, Remove EVMs”, and “Bring Back Ballot Paper Voting”. The leaders claimed that unexpected election outcomes and alleged irregularities in recent polls cast serious doubts on the reliability of electronic voting machines (EVMs).
The protest, led by leader of opposition in the legislative council Ambadas Danwe, saw participation from senior leaders such as Nana Patole, Vijay Wadettiwar, Jitendra Awhad, Mahesh Sawant, Nitin Raut, Bhaskar Jadhav, Bhai Jagtap, Vikas Thakre, Amit Deshmukh, Satej Patil, Abhijit Wanjari, and others.
Holding placards, the MLAs staged demonstrations on the Vidhan Bhavan steps, demanding the abolition of EVMs and a return to ballot paper voting.
