Mahabharat from Duryodhan’s viewpoint to be staged in city

Nagpur: The historic Mahabharat will be staged in the format of a 3-hour play on November 24 at the Mankapur stadium. Puneet Issar, who played Duryodhan in the iconic Mahabharat TV serial, has written the script from the view point of Duryodhan and Karna for this play.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Issar spoke of the struggle to script the epic into a 3-hour play. Sharing credit of the script with his son Siddhant Issar, he said, “I studied Mahabharat for two years, and took a year to write the play.”

The father-son duo will also be portraying Duryodhan, with Siddhant Issar playing the younger Duryodhan while Puneet Issar will portray him in the older avatar. Puneet Issar said since the play was scripted from the perspective of Duryodhan and Karna, not overshadowing the other characters was the biggest challenge.

Danish Akhtar will portray Bhim while Yashodhan Rana, popular for his role in ‘Om Namah Shivay’ will play Lord Krishna.

Meghna Malik, popularly known as ‘Ammaji’ for her role in TV show ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’ will anchor the play being presented by ‘Saakshat Entertainment’ and ‘Golden Era Events’.
