Madgulkar, Phadke’s songs continue to charm audience
Nagpur: The beauty of Marathi songs, penned by GD Madgulkar and sung by Sudhir Phadke more than four decades ago, continues to cast a spell was in evidence as singers won hearts of the audience at a programme organized by Sursaptak at Scientific Society Hall, Laxmi Nagar, on Wednesday.
The programme titled ‘Paan Jage Phool Jage’ was conceptualized by Suchitra Katarkar to mark the birth centenary of Madgulkar and Phadke who took light music to a new high.
The programme began with the presentation of ‘Heech amuchi prarthana’ to pay tribute to the two legends. Songs originally sung by Phadke like ‘Sakhi maand zalya taraka’, ‘Navin aaj chandrama’, ‘Tuzya gala mazya gala’, ‘Ashi pakhare yeti’ and ‘Phite andharache jale’ received a huge applause from the audience.
Songs like ‘Rupas bhalalo mee’, ‘Phirtya chakavarti’, ‘Baai mazi karangali modali’, ‘Baai mee patang udavit hote’, ‘Hryudayi preet jagate’, ‘Paan jage phool jage’, ‘Dhundi kalyanaa’, ‘Swapnat rangale’ and ‘Chandra aahe sakshila’ were also presented. The programme concluded with famous song ‘Marathi paul padte pudhe’.
Singers Mukul Pande, Amol Kulkarni, Ashish Ghate, Nisargaraja, Arun Ozarkar, Apurv Masodkar, Vijay Deshpande, Mohan Pande, Kumar Kelkar, Sadanand Karandikar, Aditya Phadke, Padmaja Sinha, Pratiksha Pattalwar, Ashwini Lule, Rucha Yenurkar, Sangeeta Bhagat, Archana Uchake, Falguni Kurzekar, Anuja Joshi, Dipali Panake, Sujata Patil and Medha Haridas lent their voices to make the evening memorable.
The accompanying artistes were Parimal Joshi, Pankaj Yadav, Ravi Satphale, Mahindra Watolkar, Nishikant Deshmukh, Tushar Vighne and Arya Deshpande.
Shobha Dodake gave a Bharatanatyam performance. Author Varsha Kide-Kulkarni, Vijay Deshpande and Nitin Junghare were felicitated on the occasion.
Ujwala Andhare and Shubhangi Rayulu were the anchors.
Speaking about the programme, one of the spectators Anupama Kale said, “Marathi language needs to be preserved and so does songs. Looking at the huge crowd, I feel happy to know that in the time of different genres of music, people are still enjoying Marathi music. Such musical programmes should be organized more often. The singers were excellent.”
