Kohinoor Cricket Club pile up 406 runs
Nagpur: Kohinoor Cricket Club on Sunday piled up 406 runs in the Guzder League ‘C’ Division One-dayers against Fortune Cricket Club. The match played at Government Polytechnic Ground in Sadar turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Fortune CC batters managed just 94 for 9 in reply.
Kohinoor CC skipper Dharmedra Ahlawat opted to bat first despite a bit of wet pitch. Fortune CC bowlers failed to exploit favourable conditions and were carted to all parts of the smallish ground by Kohinoor CC openers Shailesh Bhondekar and Samitinjoy Bhattacharya.
The openers put up 96 runs before Bhattacharya got out. From there on, neither Bhondekar nor Kohinoor looked back. Bhondekar hammered 127 runs off just 68 balls hitting 12 fours and eight sixes. He scored at a strike rate of 186.76. Kartik Rathod, coming in at No. 6, blasted 79 (41b;5x5;6x6) while Devendra Tarauliya scored 64 (39b;6x4;2x6) as Kohinoor piled up 406 all out in 44.4 overs.
While all the Fortune CC bowlers came under attack, right-arm medium pacer Nitin Tiwari held on to his own, snapping up eight wickets while giving just 40 runs.
Fortune CC faltered big time chasing the target with only Nitin Tiwari (40) and Akshay Tiwari (19) managing to reach double figures.
This season the Guzder ‘C’ Division has witnessed a series of 400-plus scores. Shivaji Nagar Recreational Club had posted 433 for 8 against Dharampeth Education Society on October 26. Dharampeth Education Society bowlers were again sent to the cleaners, this time Ruby Sporting Club as they piled up 414 for 6 on October 27.
