Narrating the past incident, the family said that the victim, who is a school dropout, was walking home when Das stopped her and tried to abduct her.
"While he was taking her to a desolate place, her screams alerted nearby residents and Das was thrashed there," said the victim's brother. "Since then, we would never allow her to go anywhere alone."
At around 2pm on Tuesday, the victim was busy with routine household work in the yard of her house when Das came and forcibly took her inside the house, said the police. The victim's parents were out for their regular jobs while her younger brother was at her grandmother's residence. The girl said in her police complaint that though she screamed for help no one came to her help since the neighbouring house is some distance away.

"The victim said that she tried to rebuff Das, but he slapped her continuously and then forced himself upon her. She was not able to physically resist him," said the cops. The family said that the frightened girl immediately rushed to her neighbour's house and narrated her plight.
"She was afraid of her parent's scolding and hence she informed the neighbour, who alerted her parents," said a relative. Learning about the incident, the parents thrashed the girl initially but then decided to report the matter to the cops.
The girl's mother claimed that though nearby residents are very well aware about the culprit, none of them are supporting them. The victim's mother, who is connected with some organization, said that though they had thrashed him and warned him, the boy would often be seen roaming near their residence.
"We thought he will never do this again. Somebody might have tipped him about the time when she was alone at home," said the mother.
