Nagpur: Increased incidence of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and hypertension and higher obesity have led to many more people requiring medical help to have children. With the aim of making doctors from the region adept at handling such cases, internationally renowned experts will be ‘teaching’ the same to doctors in the city over the weekend.
A three-day Masterclass Infertility has been organized by Femicare Foundation and Shrikhande IVF and Surrogacy Centre between November 27 and 29 at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth. Faculty of the conference include renowned experts in the field like Prof Neil Johnson from New Zealand, Prof Ernest Ng from Hong Kong, Samuel Dos Santos from Brussels, Joy Marriott from New Zealand, Dr Ruma Chakraborty from Dubai, city-based Dr Laxmi Shrikhande, Dr Kamini Patel from Ahmedabad, Dr Jaydeep Tank and Dr Kesri Awari from Mumbai.
“Cases of infertility have gone up by 20% in the last three decades. However, technology has advanced so much over time there is no couple that cannot have children today,” said Dr Shrikhande. For this to happen, though, it is important to enhance the academic and practical skills of infertility specialists, she added.
A hands-on workshop on intrauterine insemination (IUI) techniques will be conducted on Friday, while various sessions will take place over the next two days. There will be six international infertility masters who will be conducting various sessions. They will interact with the delegates like in the classrooms. Emphasis will be given on one to one interaction with the masters after each session. Practical case discussion sessions will take place on both days.
