YAVATMAL: "Congress-NCP is a solid front and they have the matchless potential to come back to power in Maharashtra but this time with the support of a few independent winning candidates," said note Marathi film actress Nishigandha Wad while talking to TOI here on Saturday morning just before proceeding to Ralegaon (ST) constituency to campaign for the Independent candidate Dr Ashok Uike.

When asked what has prompted her to jump into the bandwagon of star campaigners, she said, "I know Pravin Deshmukh who is the brain behind the formation of 'Ralegaon Vikas Aghadi' with whose support Uike is contesting and I have came over for the road show on his request," and added that she had earlier campaigned for Dadarao Mathe Patil of Congress from Akola (East) and will canvass for Harshawardhan Patil contesting from Indapur on Sunday.
While justifying her decision to campaign for Ashok Uike in Ralegaon, she said, "Ashokrao is a highly qualified teacher with a Ph.D. in Zoology and a person of his caliber would certainly help to bring a total facelift to the tribal constituency if voted to victory."
When asked what were the prospects of the Congress-NCP alliance, Nishigandha said, "Both the parties have great leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Sharad Pawar."
