IIM Nagpur gets land for extension complex at Mihan

Nagpur: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur has been allotted a 3,455.81 sq metre (about 0.85 acre) land parcel for an extension complex at Mihan by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC).Located at Plot No. 14 in Sector 21 outside the SEZ, the site houses a ground-plus-four-storey building that has remained unused for several years. The existing structure has around 50 rooms and a large dining hall, which the institute plans to renovate before putting the complex to use.
The allotment letter was handed over to IIM Nagpur director Bhimaraya Metri by chairman-cum-managing director of Mihan India Limited, Vipin Itankar, in the presence of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. Satyanarayan Nuwal, founder-CEO of Solar Group, was also present.Institute officials said the institute had sought the land nearly a year ago to expand its infrastructure. The plot has been allotted on a long-term lease for about ₹12 crore, payable in instalments, with development and utilisation to be carried out by IIM Nagpur.Metri said the additional facility would help meet rising demand for executive education. "There is an acute shortage of space for such programmes. Last year, the institute generated over ₹42 crore from executive education, but we can run only three programmes at a time due to space constraints," he said.The facility is expected to reinforce Mihan's emergence as a hub for education, innovation, and industry collaboration.
