College magazine of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGGMC) — Syncytium—is finally out after six long years. The unveiling of this year’s edition was recently organised on the college premises wherein students gave a sneak-peek of the mag. From GoT themed college map to including sections highlighting serious campus issues, the magazine has many quirky elements to flip through.
Dean of the college Dr Minakshi Gajbhiye, faculty members Dr Mrunal Phatak and Dr Pradeep Dixit were also present on this occasion.
Going the GoT wayGoing creative IGGMC students have included a college Atlas, theme of which veers around a popular telly series, Game of Thrones. “The previous editions were majorly academically driven. As it was a comeback edition, we wanted to make it an interesting read to which collegians can easily relate. Thus the highlight of the magazine is a colourful college map with GoT theme wherein we have plotted various important locations on the campus like college library, canteen, kattas and hostels,” informs chief secretary of the magazine, Rajat Shirpurkar.
Platform to highlight issuesFlip through the magazine and you shall find a section that brings students’ issues on the spotlight. From college’s amenities and issues pertaining to their day-to-day college life, students have voiced their opinions without mincing their words. Elaborating on this, Chaitali Punyani says, “While girls have raised the issue of the hostel security, boys have voiced their angst on the hygiene part. Besides, there’s a another section wherein the seniors have shared some fun incidents and anecdotes.”
