Espousing the merits of running for physical fitness, there are a handful of participants from the city too at the Mumbai Marathon. A love for running and the thirst to participate in an event that will help them gauge their thresholds is what has propelled a few city businessmen to be a part of the Mumbai event.
"Running is good for health. It builds physical as well as mental strength," says Sameer Sahu who has trained for just one and half months.

"I discovered the merits of running when I started this activity ten months back," says Kashyap Chamaria. "At that time I came across many serious runners in the city who take part in international events too," he says and adds that the city should have a serious, professionally managed event to create this culture. "There are so many sports happening in Nagpur. Then why aren't we having a marathon event also," he says.
Sharing this sentiment is Amit Panchmatiya who wants more and more people in the city to experience the joys and benefit of running. "It is a complete fitness regimen as it builds stamina and you also learn to eat well and healthy. It also helps in controlling anger and to be patient," he says. Missing the Nagpur Marathon which was held just just twice some five years back, Yash Gandhi says, "We participated in that event too. But it fizzled out. This city badly needs another one of that kind to provide an opportunity to all running enthusiasts."
