NAGPUR: Jaripatka police were prompt to nab a notorious goon Rajesh Raut, alias Bapya, from Indira Nagar after he, along with two others, allegedly stabbed Ratan Patil at latter’s home on Monday night.
Raut, who had been externed for two years, was also involved in several offences including a stabbing and robbing spree on trains. Raut wanted to avenge the murder of his former accomplice Vikas Kale.
Nitin Ambade, who was initially targeted by Raut, gave the goon a slip and went to Patil’s residence. Police are yet to nab Raut’s accomplices. In another incident, on Sunday evening, Mohd Ashfaque and Shahzad Khan were attacked at a bar on Kamptee road over an old dispute over sharing of profits of property sale. Ashfaque, who tried to hide in the bar’s kitchen, later succumbed to injuries.
Pachpaoli police nabbed Rakesh Nagrale and Mohsin Ahmed for their role in the crime. Police said that Ahmed had also claimed that he was being harassed by Ashfaque. Apart from the murders, city cops had some unnerving moments after a bunch of hooligans defiled a roadside shrine near Sunil Hotel belonging by splashing colour on it. Lakadganj cops were quick to intervene.
A trader was also injured and robbed of his valuables at Lalganj by three miscreants who decamped with his bag containing Rs 30,000.
