HC rejects Bhute plea to quash FIR

Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court declined to quash the first information report lodged against Avinash Bhute of Tajshree Group on Wednesday. He was named as an accused in the multi-crore Wasankar Scam and booked under sections 420, 206, 506, 120B of the

IPC

apart from Section 3 of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act.
Bhute, through his counsel Avinash Gupta, moved to the high court seeking quashing of the FIR against him in one of the cases. He claimed himself to be an investor and contended that he was victimized by Wasankar.
A division bench comprising justice Bhushan Gavai and justice Vinay Deshpande refused to enter into the merits of the matter and permitted him to withdraw his plea. He was granted liberty to move a discharge application in future if any contingency arises.
