High court pulls up NIA during Sadhvi bail plea hearing

Bombay High Court

flayed National Investigation Agency (NIA) on failure to submit record and papers pertaining to bail application moved by Sadhvi Pragya, accused of involvement in the

deadly bomb blasts in Malegaon

on September 29, 2008, that killed eight persons while injuring over hundred others.

A division bench of justice Ranjit More and justice Shalini Phansalkar sought explanation from the NIA on why it was taking such a long time when the special MCOCA court, which earlier heard Pragya’s bail plea, was a stone’s throw away. While observing that the accused was behind bars since eight years, the judges asked NIA to submit a compilation of all previous orders and judgments pertaining to the case.

Sadhvi Pragya knocked the judiciary’s doors through senior counsel Avinash Gupta assisted by Aakash Gupta, after special court denied her bail on June 28.
