Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court issued notices to Nagpur University registrar and director for higher education (in his capacity as chairman of Central Admission Committee for BEd course) in a plea filed by nine BEd students. A division bench comprising justice Vasanti Naik and justice Chandrakant Bhadang directed the respondents to reply before next week.
Farzana
Abdul Rahim and eight other students approached the judiciary after they were declared ineligible for admission to BEd (Special Education) course for 2013-14 academic session by NU by a communication sent to them on March 20 and August 28.
The students said the problem raised in their petition has already been resolved by the HC in a similar case decided on July 19 last year, and they do not agree with NU’s contention that these judgments can’t be made applicable to them. The students argued that Maharashtra government had granted permission to Radhaswami Vividh Kalyankari Shaikshnik Sanstha to run BEd (Special Education) course at Swami Vivekanand College and NU granted them affiliation on 2011-12.
The petitioners prayed for directives to the respondents to conduct their examinations, declare results and confer degrees on them as per rules and regulations.
