CHANDRAPUR: The four-day-long Mata Mahakali festival kicked off with great fanfare at the Mata Mahakali temple on Saturday. The festival was inaugurated in presence of minister for food and drug administration Sanjay Rathod in a programme organised at the temple.
Senior BJP leader and former minister Shobha Fadanvis, chief organiser of the festival, MLA Kishor Jorgewar, Shiv Sena Vidarbha president Kiran Pandav, president of Sarafa association Bharat Shinde, president of organising committee Ajay Jaiswal were present during the programme. The Sarafa association donated silver idol of Mata Mahakali weighing 8kg to the temple. The idol was formally installed in the temple in presence of guests.
Grand ‘Nagar Pradakshina’ (city rally) with the palanquin of Mata Mahakali idol will be taken out in the city on Sunday evening. The grand rally will be have attraction of grand band squad, Lezim teams, DJs, bhajan mandals, yoga dancers etc. The road show of singer Abhilipsha Panda along with the rally will be star attraction of the event.
The festival will conclude with 999 Kanya Bhojan (religious fest for 999 young girls) followed by mahaprasad. Jorgewar informed that the girls born during the Navratra will be given silver coin the mark the event.
