The two, who operated autorickshaws, had been at loggerheads over settling the dues.
Cops said Shaikh had gone to collect the dues when Kosre and his accomplices stabbed him to death. The murder had led to tension in Hasanbagh locality where Shaikh stayed. Wathoda police are investigating further.
Police were put on alert at the Government Medical College and Hospital where Shaikh’s friends and relatives had gathered outside the mortuary.
Apart from Kosre, police have also taken another goon, identified as Vishal Gupta and Prince Bokde into custody. An offence of murder has been registered at Wathoda police station.
