Nagpur: A notorious criminal serving life imprisonment but out on long-term parole, along with his five accomplices, was arrested for committing armed robbery and extortion at a bar in Nagpur city.
The incident occurred on March 13, 2026, at a restaurant and bar on Sangam road. Accused Ajit Satpute (37), a resident of Dattawadi, entered the bar with his gang. They threatened the manager at gunpoint, demanded ransom from the owner over the phone, and looted ₹20,000 cash along with several foreign liquor bottles.
MIDC police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Under the guidance of DCP (zone-1) Hrishikesh Singa Reddy and senior inspector Gokul Mahajan of MIDC police station, two teams traced leads and raided a house in Vaibhav Nagar, Wanadongri.
The arrested accused include Satpute, Pritam alias Maggie Borkute (22), Harshal Uparikar (19), Badal Girsawale (21), Rakesh Patle (37), and Akhilesh Pandey.
Police recovered a foreign-made pistol (worth ₹25,000) with a magazine and two live cartridges, an iron knife, a steel rod, a car and liquor bottles worth ₹50,000.
