Gadchiroli University signs MoU with Australia’s Curtin varsity
Nagpur: Gondwana University in Gadchiroli signed an MoU with Curtin University of Australia on Wednesday to launch mining-focused educational programmes. As reported by TOI last week, Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd joined as an industrial collaborator and pledged significant funding to establish a University Institute of Technology for these programmes.The signing ceremony in Mumbai was attended by governor CP Radhakrishnan, CM Devendra Fadnavis, Australian consul-general Paul Murphy, Lloyds MD B Prabhakaran, and Gondwana VC Prashant Bokare.The educational programme will accommodate 30 students each in diploma courses covering mining technology, steel technology and computer science with mining applications. Bokare had confirmed to TOI that the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) had approved these courses, with the syllabus to be developed through academic and industrial collaboration.The educational content will be created collaboratively by Lloyds Metal, Gondwana University and Curtin University. Curtin University's Western Australia School of Mines (WASM) currently offers 17 courses, including undergraduate and postgraduate specialisations in mining, alongside opportunities for advanced research in this specialised domain.
