NAGPUR: The
Gadchiroli Childline
and District Women and Child Development Department, in collaboration with police department and District Legal Services Authority, organized several awareness programmes on child rights on the occasion of Children’s Day on Thursday.
In Gadchiroli, Childline had started functioning with its national toll free number 1098 in April this year.
On Thursday, a rally was organized at the programme under the banner of ‘Childline se dosti’ to create awareness about the toll free helpline number (1098). The organizers highlighted the benefits of the helpline number and how it can be used. The issues of sexual exploitations were also highlighted.
District project coordinator of Childline Dinesh Borkute addressed a gathering of social workers, NGOs, government officials and other representatives of various agencies related to child rights. Borkute highlighted various issues like exploitations and crime against children. He also spoke on benefits under various schemes for child rights.
Several private NGOs, like ‘Ami Amchya Arogyasathi’ from Kurkheda took part in the programmes. Social workers and other government officials working in the field of child rights attended the programme in large numbers.
