Four-wheeler hits 3 vehicles, injures 1 person

Nagpur: One person was injured while many had a lucky escape after a rashly driven four-wheeler lost control and hit three vehicles at Gate no.2, Chacha Nehru Garden on Subhash Road, near Gandhisagar Lake on Wednesday afternoon. The incident that took place at 12.55 pm was registered by Ganeshpeth police in the night. The victim identified as Rajkumar Maudekar, 44, a cycle rickshaw puller, reported the matter after undergoing treatment at Mayo hospital. Until then, the police had not taken his statement at the hospital. Maudekar, a resident of Jogi Nagar in Lakadganj, who had suffered injuries, came to file a police complaint after undergoing treatment. Eye-witnesses said that Maudekar was fit to give a statement to the police at the hospital but the cops did not go there. “Finally, an injured Maudekar had to walk to the police station to file the complaint,” said an eye-witness who did not want to be named. As per the complaint, he was near Gate No. 2 when a speedily driven white colour four-wheeler with registration number MH 49 U6039 came in a zigzag manner and hit his rickshaw. Maudekar suffered serious injuries while his rickshaw was badly damaged causing a loss of Rs 6,000. Maudekar said that the driver went on to hit two other vehicles, including a four-wheeler parked in front of the gate. The vehicle owners did not report the damage caused. Police said that the driver of the four-wheeler identified as Om Kadu, a resident of Om Nagar, Sakkardara has been arrested. Though eye-witnesses claimed that the driver seemed to be drunk, police said that medical reports did not showed any traces of liquor. Ganeshpeth police have registered a case against Kadu and seized his vehicle. Police said that Kadu is employed as a driver of the vehicle. Cops are yet to find out details about the owner.
