Four people die due to poisonous gas

Nagpur: Toxic gas while cleaning a safety tank claimed lives of four people and landed a fifth labourer in critical condition. The incident took place at Krishna Vihar Colony, Isasani in MIDC area on Tuesday afternoon.
The fifth labour identified as Pramod Chauhan is said to be critical at a private hospital at Hingna Road. Sunil Valmik, 45, Ricky Valmik, Sumit Chauhan, 30, all residents of Pandurang Nagar and Balya Masade, 35, a resident of Indira Mata Nagar lost their lives.
According to the police information, the sewer pipeline of Phase 3 of Krishna Vihar Colony got blocked and thus the labourers were called for its cleaning purpose. All five labourers reached the colony by afternoon. The labourers stepped into the safety tank one by one.
First, Sunil Valmik stepped down and collapsed due to the poisonous gas inside. Police told that Ricky called Valmik few times and stepped into the tank after he did not get any response. Ricky, too, collapsed. Thereafter, Chauhan and Masade too stepped into the tank in search of Valmik but they too collapsed.
Pramod also had gone inside the tank and had collapsed but a nearby resident found Pramod inside the tank and immediately alerted others. The residents alerted Hingna police who then called the fire department. The fire officials brought all five out. Doctors declared Valmik and other three dead while Chauhan is battling for his life at the ICU o the private hospital.
Hingna PI Vishnu Bhoye investigated the spot. Police registered a case of an accidental death.
